❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Short, easy to remember and hard to copy. Avoid names thousands of players already use, like ProGamer, and mix words or spellings so yours stays unique.
Typical limits are: Free Fire 12, PUBG Mobile 14, Valorant, Minecraft, Call of Duty and Fortnite 16, Roblox 20 and Discord 32. Games can change these rules, so always check in-game.
This tool uses letters, numbers and underscores, which work almost everywhere. Roblox and Minecraft only allow those characters. Some mobile games also accept decorative Unicode symbols, but they can count as more than one character.
The only reliable way is to try it in the game itself, because every game has its own database. Generate a list and try them one by one.
AI Magic uses AI to write original names. To keep the service free, each IP gets 10 AI requests every 2 hours, then the button unlocks automatically. Generate is unlimited.
Every Game Has Its Own Name Rules: How a Gamertag Generator Should Handle Them
A name that works in Roblox can be refused in Fortnite, and one that fits Fortnite may be too long for Xbox. Roblox allows 3 to 20 characters with at most one underscore, Epic caps Fortnite display names at 16, and Xbox gamertags are limited to 12 characters plus an automatic number when the name is taken. A Gaming Name Generator that ignores those differences hands you names you cannot use.
This guide covers what the KromoTools tool checks, what it leaves to you, and the rules I could verify for the games and platforms people ask about most.
What the Tool Does With Your Settings
The KromoTools gamer name generator builds names from an optional keyword and about 60 templates in eight styles: dark, pro, aesthetic, funny, clan, legend, anime and numbers. People often search for a gamertag generator or a gaming username generator hoping for names that are ready to claim, but treat these as gaming name ideas to test, because availability is not checked. For the game you pick, the tool applies the limit shown in the menu, drops any name over it and strips everything except letters, numbers and underscores. For Roblox it also keeps only one underscore and trims underscores from the ends. Names under three characters are discarded.
Here is an illustrative case. With the keyword "Shadow" and the Dark style, a template can produce ShadowSlayer, which is 12 characters and fits every setting from Free Fire's 12 upward. It can also produce Phantom_Shadow at 14 characters, which fits the PUBG Mobile setting but not Free Fire's. A few more behaviours are worth knowing:
- A style pill overrides the Name Style menu, and the chosen style is strict. If you choose neither, all styles mix.
- The Name Length setting works inside the game's limit. Short is 4 to 7 characters, Medium 8 to 12 and Long 13 to 18, so Free Fire (12) combined with Long returns nothing, and PUBG (14) with Long returns only 13 and 14 character names.
- The keyword appears in most templates but not all, and only its first letter is capitalised.
- The anime style draws on a word list of real anime character names, so those results borrow from other people's characters.
- Numbers come from a fixed list of 18, such as 7, 99, 123, 404 and 777, so many players end up with the same ones.
- The Discord setting allows 32 characters but does not lowercase names, and Discord usernames must be lowercase. A Discord display name is looser, so that setting suits display names better.
- There is no setting for a gaming name generator for boys or girls. Style is how you steer.
- AI Magic sends your keyword, game, limit, style and length to a server and runs its results through the same cleaning. It is limited to 10 requests per IP address every two hours, and nothing is saved.
The Rules I Could Verify
- Roblox: 3 to 20 characters, using letters, numbers and at most one underscore, which cannot be at the start or end. The display name is separate from the username, and changing a username costs Robux. One guide says Roblox's filter also rejects impersonation, including brand names and copyrighted characters.
- Fortnite: Epic's help page says display names must be 3 to 16 characters, with no vulgarity, no direct references to Epic employees, products or characters, and no private information such as phone numbers, addresses or real names. A name that breaks the rules can be reset.
- Xbox: Microsoft's documentation describes modern gamertags of up to 12 characters, with an automatic number suffix added after a # sign when the name is already taken, and a total unique length of 16. Classic gamertags are 15 characters.
- PlayStation: one generator page lists 3 to 16 characters for a PSN ID. Verify it on the platform before you rely on it.
The tool's own figures for PUBG Mobile (14), Free Fire (12), Valorant, Minecraft and Call of Duty (16) are not verified here, so check each game when you create the name. It has no Xbox or PlayStation setting, but the Free Fire setting's 12-character cap matches Xbox's 12, and the 16-character settings match a PSN ID.
Pro Tips for Choosing From the List
- Match the cap to the platform. Choose the game setting whose limit equals the platform's, rather than Any Game, which allows 20.
- Leave a character or two spare. A shorter name leaves room for a number if your first choice is taken.
- Keep personal details out. Epic's rules forbid real names and contact details in display names, and a birth year or school makes a name easy to trace.
- Edit anything that echoes a brand or character. Swap the anime or clan words for your own.
- Reuse one name across services. If you want the same handle on social media, the Username Generator applies length limits for those platforms, and the Nickname Generator has Gaming and Bestie styles for names your squad uses in chat.
Questions the Tool Page Does Not Answer
Why do my Discord names have capital letters?
The tool does not lowercase them. Discord usernames are lowercase, so retype your favourite in lowercase or use it as a display name.
Why did I get nothing for Free Fire with Long selected?
Long means 13 to 18 characters and Free Fire's cap in the tool is 12, so nothing fits. Choose Medium or Short.
Why isn't my keyword in every name?
A few templates, like the ones that join two random words, do not use it. Most do, so generate a larger batch if you want more names that include your word.
Is there a gaming name generator for boys or girls?
Not here. There is no gender setting, and the styles, such as Dark, Pro and Aesthetic, are the way to steer the results.
Are anime-style names safe to use?
They are built from real character names, and platforms may reject names that echo characters or brands. Roblox's filter reportedly rejects copyrighted characters, and Epic bars direct references to its own characters. Pick your own words if in doubt. This is not legal advice.
Are numbers like 99 or 123 a good idea?
They are common, so a name ending in one is more likely to be taken. Choose a number that means something to you, but avoid your birth year. Xbox adds a suffix on its own when a gamertag is taken.
Try the Name in the Game Before You Settle
Shortlist a few, check the limit for your platform and test each name in the game's own sign-up. Once you have one, a matching profile picture helps, and the Pixel Avatar Generator has a Character Builder that makes retro human, robot, alien, cat and ghost characters.
